Editing, Leadership & Team Building

Sarita Josephson Portfolio

Being part of journalism has taught me a lot about editing, leadership, and working with a team. I started as an editor intern and later moved into a full-time editing role, where I was in charge of reviewing articles from assigned writers and our pitch bucket. I had tighter deadlines—sometimes only 24 hours to edit—so I had to make quick decisions, like cutting parts that didn’t work or making sure nothing harmful or incorrect got published.

As an editor for Scot Scoop, I check for grammar, AP Style, flow, and more to make sure every article is strong and ready for our site. I also give writers feedback and grades, but I try to go beyond just fixing their work. I work closely with them so they can grow as writers and feel more confident.

Taking on this role gave me more responsibility and taught me how to lead while still being collaborative. I’ve learned how to give honest feedback, manage time under pressure, and support others—all while making sure our content stays sharp.
