Design & Web

Explore a collection of the designs I have done within my journalistic work. I have used websites such as Flourish and Canva to create multimedia, data journalism, and multiple different types of infographics.

Infographics

I love using infographics in my work because they turn complex info into something that’s visual, clear, and engaging. Whether I’m explaining data, summarizing research, or presenting ideas, infographics help me communicate in a way that’s both creative and easy to understand.

This was an infographic I created for my long-form feature story to highlight the support systems available for students with silent disabilities at Carlmont High School. It explains key resources like IEPs, 504 plans, and the SAC/LS program in a clear, visual way to help students and families better understand what’s available and how to access it.

Datajournalism

I use data journalism to help tell stories in a more visual and impactful way. With tools like Flourish, I can turn numbers into clear, interactive charts and graphics that make the information easier to understand and more engaging for readers. It helps me show trends, highlight key facts, and back up my reporting with real data.

I included this map in my article about the new Topgolf facility opening in our area to show how it fits into the company’s national expansion. Visualizing all the locations across the U.S. helps readers see that our local facility is part of a much larger trend.

I used this chart in a story about Beyoncé’s impact on the music industry to show how her Grammy nominations and wins have changed over time. It helps highlight not just her success, but how consistently she’s been recognized throughout her career.

I used these two infographics in my long-form feature story to give readers a better understanding of the prevalence of silent disabilities in the U.S. The first chart breaks down different types of silent disabilities by percentage, and the second highlights how many Americans live with them overall. Including these visuals helped add context and show why local support systems—like the ones at Carlmont—matter so much.

I used this infographic in my article to show how TikTok usage changes across different age groups. It helped support my story by visually showing that while the app is most popular with teens and young adults, it still reaches a wide range of users.
